British Arena is easy to reach by public transport, with regular bus and rail connections serving Sunderland and the surrounding area.

If you’re travelling by train, Sunderland city centre is well connected to destinations across the North East and beyond. From the station, you can continue your journey by local bus, taxi or on foot, depending on your route.

A number of local bus services also operate throughout Sunderland, making it easy to reach the arena from the city centre and nearby areas.

We recommend checking your journey before travelling, particularly for evening events, weekends and bank holidays, when public transport timetables may vary.

Where possible, allow a little extra time for your journey on busy event days.

Event-specific door times appear on each event page. Allow extra time for entry and security checks.

For the safety and comfort of everyone visiting British Arena, we operate a number of security procedures.

Bag searches may be carried out on entry to the venue. Please allow a little extra time when arriving, particularly during busy events.

Large bags may need to be checked into our cloakroom for a small fee. Coats, umbrellas and other personal items can also be left in the cloakroom.

Please note:

* Drinks purchased outside the venue are not permitted, with the exception of water.
* Glass is not permitted inside the auditorium.
* Dangerous, prohibited or potentially harmful items will not be allowed into the venue.
* Large bags, including bags larger than a standard handbag, may not be permitted inside the auditorium and may need to be placed in the cloakroom.
* Refusal to allow a requested bag search may result in entry to the venue being refused.
